A new Friday Five

It's been quite awhile since I've done a Friday Five and I got some inspiration from my son's Thursday folder to do one. At my son's school they send a folder home on Thursday's to give us any papers to bring home and also if there's anything we need to sign and return the next day-etc. Anyways yesterday's folder had a writing portfolio:

I think it's so cute to see his drawings and his writing of course he can't quite spell everything correctly yet -some things we have to ask- what does that say? I guess they mostly write about things they have done/ places they've been. And - here's 5 things from the writing portfolio:

1.

I went to the zoo

2.
 I got ice cream

3.
I went to go shopping

4.

 I play Skylanders

5.

 I went to play soccer

Sorry if the pics and descriptions are not in a uniformed place it was giving me problems -But, there you have the Friday Five - Hope everyone has a great weekend!

The Friday Five -He's in the band

I haven't done a fun Friday Five in awhile - And today I want to talk about guys -hot/ sexy guys! For me and probably a lot of you out there I could totally dig the artistic/musician type of guy and that's why I'd like to call today's Friday Five- He's in the band -Here's 5 guys that are hot and sexy and in a band:

1.

Adam Levine of Maroon 5 -Am I right ladies? ! I can't wait to see him on the new upcoming show -The Voice - Oh also a little sexy tidbit -He recently posed nude on a magazine to help raise awareness for cancer!

2.

Ezra Koenig of Vampire Weekend -He may not be the traditional smoldering hunk of meat but, he's sure does work that sexy boy next door vibe!

3.

Tyler Glenn of Neon Trees -He's got that good guy but, yet punk rocker sexy vibe going -Mmm-hmm!

4.

Tyson Jay Ritter of All- American Rejects -I mean just look at him-Super sexy rocker -and he's even from Oklahoma!

5.

Jared Leto of 30 seconds to Mars -I've thought Jordan er- I mean Jared was hot since he was on My so called Life. And even when he's sporting a pink mohawk he looks good! Shh! his band even has a very kinky video -most of them around the 'net are even censored.

So, there you have it -think I have a type? ;) And I'm sure there are others I could name -what do you think? Agree/disagree -Who would add? Happy Friday and Weekend!

The Friday Five

I haven't done a Friday Five in awhile - I've probably told you that I love watching YouTube videos - But, maybe I haven't told you that just like there's blogs I follow -there's certain people I follow on YouTube that do vlogs n stuff -So, here's 5 Youtube channels I watch often:

1. Italktosnakes

She recently celebrated her 4th vlogiversary as she talked about in the video I posted -even though I haven't been following her that long -she's pretty awesome! Also she's like everywhere! She's on a couple other channels-like this one, 1 for the band she's in -(they even toured in OK and other places -but, I didn't get to see them). She's also on a couple of websites and just everywhere it seems.

2. Meekakitty

Another semi -geeky but, fabulous lady -who's just beautiful -She does actually work as a model sometimes -IRL! Also at about minute 2:45 -you might recognize another YouTuber. This video of course is a music video -but, she does do more vlog type stuff sometimes -like at the end of this video.

3. WheezyWaiter

Love his intro music -and yes I might be a beard lover ;) He posts almost everyday. He's also in a band and can be found different place around the 'net. He's funny and quite entertaining.

4. The annoying orange

I watched them -now my kids are obsessed with these videos too. Always entertaining -and did you see who played the pistachios? ;)

5. Take 180

There are so many spoof videos and channels -this is just 1 I check out a lot.

There really are a few other channels I watch a quite a bit - But, that's it for today's Friday 5 -Have a good Friday and Happy Weekend!

The Friday Five

It's been awhile since I've done a Friday Five - This will be the 1st 1 of 2011 actually! I don't have any specific topic for today but, did have a few things I wanted to share - So, here's today's RANDOM Friday 5 ...

1st -Around here we have the TV on kid shows a lot -and there's a fairly new show called Shake it Up:

Anyone seen it? So, I'm thinking the red head reminds me of someone and then it hit me...

So, I know on Shake it Up they just dance not sing but, still -Whaddayathink?

2nd -Speaking of kid shows we've been watching House of Anubis on Nick -Well, mostly me and my daughter - Anyone else been watching it? It's full of mystery and is about an American who goes to school in the UK -so, most of them have lovely accents :)

3rd I try to watch Regis and Kelly everyday -Yesterday Kelly had her husband fill in as her co-host and I pretty much love this whole segment:
Ahh the joys of married life and sharing about it on national TV ;)

4th -I know it's soo 2010 but, I love this video - a collaboration of cat videos from 2010 -Sorry Couldn't embed -have to click the link.

5th -Last but, certainly not least is a video of my son doing some "comedy" -Enjoy =D

And that's today's Friday 5 - Have a good day and weekend!

The Friday Five

I know I've been talking a lot about Christmas lately -but, it's always good to have a little holiday cheer -Right? Well, here's some more -5 Christmas songs for today's Friday Five...

1. A traditional Frank Sinatra 1 -Have yourself a Merry little Christmas:

2. Another traditional albeit more upbeat 1 -Brenda Lee -Rockin' around the Christmas tree:

3. 1 of my favorite traditional songs with a new twist by Annie Lennox:

4. A newer not so much traditional song -Christmas Wrapping by the Waitresses -I also love the light display ;)

5. And last but not least a traditional singer Bing Crosby singing a not so traditional song -I'm not even going to try to spell it -But, maybe 1 of these days I can have a Hawaiian Christmas and sing this:

So, there you have it-an early Merry Christmas to you! Only about a week before Christmas -and I've still got some shopping to do! Well, I better get busy -Happy Friday and weekend!

The Friday Five

You know there always seem to be some kind of late night war or another- and I personally like all the late night shows and their hosts just fine -although I rarely stay up to watch them. Do you watch any of them-have a favorite? Well, 1 of the people I love is Jimmy Fallon -he's been around awhile-of course since back in his SNL days -etc. So, here's 5 videos of Jimmy Fallon and why I love him:

1. 1 of the things from kinda back in the day that I love -His song Idiot Boyfriend:

2. Other people appreciate his awesomeness too- which is why he hosted the Emmy's this year and had fun sketches like this:

3. And of course some great skits from his late night show:

4. This is awesome!- History of rap with Justin Timberlake:

5. He also does some great impressions like Neil Young -there was 1 going around this week with Bruce Springsteen -Here's another 1 though -"Neil Young" does Pants on the ground:

Well, that's it for today -Hope everyone has a great Friday and weekend!

1.

2.

3.

4.

5. -Have you guessed what it is? Yep -He was taking pictures of the Spongebob show that was on TV :)

Well, that's it for today's Friday 5 -Hope everyone has a good weekend!

The Friday Five

For today's Friday Five -I want to talk about something fun -like... Gummy bears! -or is Gummi bears?-(I've seen both spellings) Well, anywho -Here goes 5 videos related to Gummy bears:

1. Do you know how big the world's biggest gummy bear is? Well, if you watch this video you will:

2. There's this funny video that my son loves to watch about a Gummy bear -Here you go:

3. Speaking of gummy bears -Remember the cartoon? Here's something to jog the memory -and probably get the song stuck in your head;)

4. And speaking about that show -Here's a movie spoof about it: -The embedding has been disabled so you'll have to click here to watch it.

5. Also about movies with gummy bears -Anyone seen the movie Cloudy with a chance of meatballs? -This is what happens when gummy bears attack -Maybe they were the 5 pounders ;)

Well, that's it for my Gummy (Gummi?) Bear edition of the Friday 5 -I bet you feel so informed now-Huh? -I swear I love taking a random subject and coming with 5 things -Maybe 1 of these days -I'll do some from your suggestions -Got any?
Well, have a good day and weekend!

The Friday Five -Halloween movie edition

Last week I talked about scary movies -and how I don't really like them. But, that's not to say I don't like some Halloween type movies -In fact -Here's my Top 5 movie choices for Halloween time:

1. Hocus Pocus:

2. Haunted Mansion:

3. Halloweentown- All of them are ok:

4. Clue:

5. Murder by Death -Similar to clue but maybe less known -I love it! :

Of course there's still others I like -Halloween is always a good time to watch a Tim Burton film -Beetlejuice,Corpse Bride,Nightmare before Christmas,-etc. And Charlie Brown's search for the great pumpkin is good too. What's your favorite movie(s) to watch around Halloween?

Hope everyone has a good weekend and a Happy Halloween!!

The Friday Five - A little early ;)

For today's Friday Five I want to mention 5 things -some I might've mentioned before -But,If you missed it -worth a 2nd look kind of thing - So, here goes:

1. A few weeks ago I mentioned the hilarious Mompetition videos - Well, I guess they are getting really viral - Since then -there's even been an article in Time magazine about them!

2. You might've noticed a new widget on my blog -Kids Eat Free -over --> that way somewhere. I'm sure a lot of you are like me and love a good deal like kids eat free -etc. -In fact...

3. Besides that widget my latest frugal family Examiner article offers some Kids Eat free deals for October!

4. As we all know Halloween is coming soon! -I also have a few Examiner articles about fall fun/pumpkin patches, Free pumpkin carving stencils,Halloween crafts, -etc and probably some more coming up soon -I highlight a lot of that on my Facebook page -Check it out if you haven't already- Thanks!

5. Do you love candles? Glade candles? If you do -you should check out the design contest they're having -You can design a candle and the winning design gets $$! It took me a little while to get the hang of it -But, luckily you get a few chances per scent -I've made a few -I think these are some of my best ones- this, this, and this - Which 1 do you like the best? -Feel free to vote for me ;)

Well, that's about it for now -a lot of stuff to do around here -Our garage door is broken -have to get a person out to fix it (hoping it's not too expensive.) Also need to clean/get ready for some visitors -My sister and brother-in law are visiting for the weekend -I hope everything goes ok.
Until next time -Hope everyone has a good weekend!

The Friday Five

Ocassionally I watch things on the History channel (shout out to the American Pickers and Pawn Stars ;) it's not that I sit down and watch them every time it's on or even set it to record -they usually show reruns a lot so just whenever I catch it on. But, that's not exactly what I'm talking about today -also on the History channel -sometimes I do record specials- and depending -they're a hit or miss -Well, this 1 was a hit -How the states got their shapes-It was pretty interesting! Here's 5 things I learned that are pretty cool:

1. Derby Line, Vermont -Lies on the border of Canada and the U.S. -They've recently had a bit of a border change/increase in security -trying to control the border - Luckily for people they can cross the border if they happen to be in the Haskell Free Library and Opera House which has a black line running through it -part of it being in Canada and part of it being in the U.S.!

2. There was a U.S. state that only lasted for 4 years -The state of Franklin -It's now part of Tennessee.

3. Kaskaskia -Illinois' lost capital -Now an island that technically is still part of Illinois even though the few residents have a Missouri zipcode- Causing some confusion. Kaskaskia is also home to the "Liberty Bell of the West" -You might not have known America had 2 Liberty Bells -this one is even older than the 1 in Philadelphia!

4. Bloody Island -Another island causing confusion if it's part of Illinois or Missouri -It was mostly considered "neutral" therefore becoming a rendezvous for dueilist -Becoming known as Bloody Island.

5. I had to include something about Oklahoma -You might've heard about -No man's land -in the OK panhandle -a haven for outlaws when there was little/no settlement in the area.

So, that's some pretty interesting things I learned-It might come on again sometime or if you wanted to find it online -Here's a little bit I found:

Now how's that for putting some wrinkles in your brain -Pretty educational Friday Five today-Eh?! ;) Well, Hope everyone has a good weekend!

The Friday Five

It's time again for another Friday Five - Today I want to share some videos that represent The Mom Mayhem pretty well -So, here we go:

1. These videos are hilarious -I'm going to share a few of these -1st -Why it's hard to make mom friends:

I think most of us moms fall somewhere in the middle of these -I know I do -But, it's hilarious!

2. Another one:

3. And another one that I like - this time I'll share the link from Mompetition's Channel -You can also join the Mompetition Blog!

4. Here's a classic Bill Cosby video about having kids:

5. This comedian is also funny -Talking about parenting:

Hope you enjoyed these! Have a happy friday and a good weekend!!

The Friday Five

It's time for another Friday 5 - and I'm talking about memes again -except this time it's 1 meme in particular - It's so awesome it deserves a post by itself - I mean it's Double maybe even Triple Rainbow Awesome! ;)

1. In case you haven't heard of the Double Rainbow meme it all started with this video:

2. Then the most infamous part of this meme happened- the Gregory Brother's (who are famous for Auto-tuning various things) Auto-tuned the video and made it into a song -You can even purchase it on Itunes! -Here's the Double Rainbow Song:

3. Of course now there are lots of different versions of the original video out there like the OMG Cat 1:

4. And what's a rainbow without a Leprechaun?! -This video is even an Interactive- Choose your own adventure! :

5. This video is not necessarily a parody -It's more talking about a music tour -called - Wait for it ... Triple Rainbow Awesome!

I looked at the tour dates and was so excited that they're coming to Oklahoma- Looks like they took T-town off the tour and are just going to OKC now though. (I know my nerd side is totally showing right now ;)

Well, that's it for today's Friday 5 - Hope everyone has a good day and weekend!

The Friday Five

Time for another Friday Five -and today is pretty random alright! - It's 5 odd observations I've had lately - Here we go:

1. Taylor Swift -Love her songs and everything! But, a lot of times I see her -I think she looks like someone-But, who? This actually happens to me a lot-But, I think I finally figured this 1 out! -She looks like - The original Barbie:

So, whadyathink -Quite a bit of resemblance -Eh?! I'm just saying maybe more than the actual Taylor Swift dolls:

2. Chips and Salsa:
It seems most Mexican restaurants have Chips and Salsa for you to eat while you order and wait on your meal -But, at other restaurants if they offer chips and salsa -You have to buy them separately as an appetizer -What's up with that?

3. Cracker Jacks: 1st -Mmm But, 2nd and onto my point -I'm pretty sure this is 1 of the 1st foods if not the 1st to offer a "toy prize" -But, you don't hear people saying it's a "bad food influence" on kids -No, you only hear about that on things like Happy Meals at McDonald's ...

4. And speaking of McDonalds ... - We got a box of stuff from my MIL some things were my husband's old belongings, some were just old toys-etc. she wanted to get rid -And 1 of the things in there was some McDonald's videos -specifically -Ronald McDonald's Wacky Adventures -Like this:

5. If that's not weird enough -we watched some and I noticed similarities to some of today's cartoons- like Grimace is like the sidekick of Spongebob aka -Patrick:

Huh? Huh? Whadyathink? Also not too mention similarities to the show Dora the explorer -Could the Hamburglar be the original Swiper? And the little chicken mcnuggets are like the little spanish music playing dudes?! Just saying -Have I revealed too much craziness today? ;)

Well, that's it for now -Have a good Labor Day weekend!

Friday, July 30, 2010

The Friday Five

It's that time again - The Friday Five -Where I mention 5 things about any random topic - And today I want to talk about spoofs;parodies -specifically spoofs on TV shows and Movies -So, here goes:

1. You know I love the Real Housewives -even if it's kids spoofing RHONJ

2. From the same people - Kids spoofing TMZ

3. I'm also a Seinfeld fan -And in this version it's Seinfeld the thriller movie -Serenity Now:

4. I haven't seen the movie Inception yet (I do want to though) But, how about this spoof with "Dora" :

5. Also from the take 180 gang - The Last Hairbender:

-These are pretty funny -Eh? - Well, that's it for now -Have a good weekend!

The Friday Five

There haven't been as many TV shows to watch since it's summer -But, there are a few I've been enjoying. And that is today's Friday Five - 5 TV shows I've been watching lately :

1.
America's Got Talent -You know I love an entertaining Reality Show -and it's generally something the whole family can watch - Except has anyone noticed there's usually some crazy person who thinks they can go on stage and just take off their clothes or something for a "talent" ?! -Usually a crazy guy or maybe the occasional burlesque woman.

2.
And speaking of reality shows -I've been watching the Bachelorette. This time it's with Ali -the all-American gal who was on the previous Bachelor. I was a little suspicious of "the wrestler" but, started to think maybe he was there for the right reasons -But, now it's out - he was there to promote his wrestling and had a girlfriend or 2 ?! Ugh I guess that goes to my theory -you can't trust a Justin -No, I never had a boyfriend named Justin or anything but, seems all the Justins I've known are troublemakers (my family has alot of J names and thought if I were to follow that -I would not use Justin ;)

3. Gotta love the Real Housewives (all of them) and right now it's the ladies of NJ that have the floor. But, now Dina is out because of all the Danielle drama -and speaking of that -is the next episode finally going to be the 1 they've been teasing us with -where police -etc. are involved? I'll be watching to see what happens ;)

4. Also on the Real Housewives front -Bethenny getting Married ? - Even though we know it's not a question mark since she has in fact gotten married and had her baby girl-Finally Bethenny is getting it all. And it looks like the next episode will be the actual wedding -How exciting!

5. The only non-reality show on this list -Have I mentioned that I love reality shows?! ;) I thought I would like this show -even though the opening scene was hard to watch -It is definitely suspenseful! It's about a group of strangers who awaken in a deserted town and are being watched by cameras -attempts to leave are thwarted by mysterious forces. Remind you of something? It's kinda filling my Lost void right now ;) I can't wait to see what it's all about -They say all will be revealed by the end of summer!

So,anyone else out there been watching any of these ? Thoughts?

Well, that's it for today's Friday 5 - Have a Happy 4th of July weekend!

Friday, May 28, 2010

The Friday Five

I have not done a Friday Five in awhile and lately I've seen some cool video's -etc. that moms especially could appreciate -So here goes...

1. A spoof of Taylor Swift's "Love Story" - (A more real) Love Story:

2. I know this is technically a commercial -But, it's hilarious! -Swagger Wagon:

3. You know there's got to be a video about babies poo ;)

4. This is kind of an oldie but goodie -The Mom Song:

5. This one is not technically a video per se' -But,it's still a pretty cool set of pictures called Fallen Princesses by Dina Goldstein -Click HERE to check it out. I bet most of us mom's have felt like "Snowy" ;)

Well, that's it for today's Friday Five!
I'm excited for the long weekend even though not sure what our plans are exaclty -mostly kinda hanging around the house/cleaning -etc. but, might try to take a swim at my mom's pool that's opening this weekend. Well, hope you have a good Memorial Day weekend!

The Friday Five

For today's Friday Five -I'm going to show 5 pictures taken by my son. As I've mentioned before that he likes to grab the camera and shoot a bunch of pics -So these are all taken by my son -See:
1. I guess he already knows the trick about taking a picture of yourself in the bathroom mirror ;)

2. Awhile back the kids put all kinds of blankets on the living room floor for some kind of imprumptu PJ party and here's what my son did:

3.
4. 5
I like his pictures of his feet on the different blankets! And the last blanket even kinda matches his outfit :)
Well, that's it for today -Have a nice weekend!

Friday, April 2, 2010

The Friday Five

I haven't done a Friday Five in awhile -You know when I post 5 things about any random subject. Well, here goes -so even though it's rainy and all today spring has sprung! The past few days have been really nice weather- things blossoming all over and of course it's Easter weekend -a sure sign of spring! So here's 5 pictures I've taken within the past few days:
1. A pretty flower from a tree in my backyard - I like the grey background from the fence:

2. The same tree just looking up into the sky:

3. Again the same tree but, with a bee going to gather pollen from it:

4. Moving on from the tree-I also have a nice Forsythia bush that's blooming:

5. And since it's almost Easter here's some of our decorations -these are on our back sliding glass door- I can see the Forsythia bush looking out there-See:Well, that's it for today's Friday Five. I have to make sure I get everything ready for Easter -we're having the big Easter feast over here. And of course we have to get our Easter eggs all dyed and everything. Until next time -Have a nice Easter weekend!

Thursday edition of Friday Five -TV Shows

There's so many things going on with my "showz" lately I have to talk er-uh write about it!

1. Lost -Final season! -Need I say more?! So far it seems more questions have come up than answers -But, I'm along for the ride- Exciting!!

2. Ugly Betty - As much as Lost's final season was expected -Unfortunately this will also be Ugly Betty's last season. It seems to me that's what happens a lot when they move shows around -Such as with Ugly Betty -Thurs. night to Fri. night, then to Wednesday night. Makes me wonder if networks sometimes do that on purpose to get rid of shows? Unfortunately I'm not all the way caught up myself partly because sometimes our ABC works fine and sometimes it doesn't and then I have to catch up online sometimes -Once I discover that my recording didn't work right. And not too mention all the moving around of the show-Urgh!

3. American Idol - The year of the celebrity guest judges on the road. And of course Paula is out and Ellen is in as Hollywood week starts. And now this appears to be Simon's last season too. It remains to be seen how it will go with all of those changes. So far so good for now...

4. The Bachelor -On the wings of Love: As nice guy Jake is back after not winning Bachelorette's Jillian's hand. He's dealing with the normal drama when a bunch of women fighting over 1 guy get together-But, who knew there'd be so much drama?! First time ever someone had to be kicked off because of an "inappropriate relationship" with a staff member!(they were fired too). And he finally kicked off "crazy eyes"-Before a rose ceremony. And now Ali had to choose between staying and losing her job. Or go back to work and miss out on Jake -Or does she?? Seems we'll see her again -Who knows what all is going to happen...

5. And in other Reality show news -Anyone catch the new one -Undercover Boss?

I love this show! Ok so I know I'm kinda a reality show junkie -But,I'm sure the network people also knew this would be perfect timing for this kind of show. Like most of your average hard-working middle class americans-This hits home. Like our economy in general you've got the "fat cat" CEO's and such living it up with their golden parachutes not understanding how it really is on "the front lines." Granted I am a SAHM now but, I did live in the corporate world once and disliked it -1 of the reasons I am a SAHM ;) Again I love the concept of the boss working undercover and seeing how their policies are implented. And finding out there's people like the woman who was doing the job of 3or4? Had family depending on her and her house up for sale because they couldn't afford it anymore- Overworked and Underpaid is the name of the game unfortunately for so many. Once the boss realizes things like that -They vow to make changes -I hope it does continue like that -Would be a good domino affect to have ;)

Oh and I can't wait for Survivor -Heroes Vs. Villians! Well, that's it for now -Until next time-Have a good day! :)
