Back to School and More
The kids have been back to school for a couple of weeks now -trying to get back into the routine of things. It's been kinda of tough the waking up earlier and everything. Also the week before school started my son had a really bad ear infection and when I say bad I mean like nothing I've seen before bad ... blood and other drainage came from his ear on a Sunday so took him to the minor care. Even though I was kinda freaking out they seemed somewhat nonchalant about it saying that it happens sometimes. They prescribed him ear drops and an antibiotic. He was pretty out of it most of that week -at times he did say some pretty funny things in his delirium though - he rested most of the time-it was really hard when he would wake up crying in pain at night we did give him med. for the pain and even took turns sleeping on an air mattress in his room -we gave him medicine, tried to get him to eat a little and pushed fluids since he didn't eat much. To our relief he finally started to get around more and get better by Thurs. But, then I kept noticing something didn't seem quite right -it wasn't all the time but sometimes when he'd talk he'd kind of talk out of the corner of his mouth I had looked up complications of ear infections which kind of helped but, of course can have you thinking the worst also - there was mention of the infection spreading like to the brain and stuff -I had also came across how when one side of the face doesn't move it could be Bell's Palsy we had him close his eyes and sure enough the left eye would squeeze shut all the way but, the right eye could only close to a little slit. I was sure we would definitely need to get it checked out by his Dr. -of course that Friday in preparation for school starting Monday I was to help get all the PTA stuff situated -my husband already had taken the day off to help -he took my son to the Dr. then I helped out at the school but, I was a bit of an emotional wreck. I found out the news by phone call- my family came up to the school later to meet my son's teacher and we explained the situation to her. By then I was ready to go home with my family -so I did- luckily there were a few other people handling the PTA stuff as I hoped they'd understand why I left early. I wanted to know more detail about what the Dr. had said -basically inside my son's ear was so swollen that it was affecting the nerves on that side of his face -we also setup an appt. with his E.N.T. -he currently already has tubes in as well. So my son missed some of the 1st day of school for that appt. we have seen the E.N.T. 3 times over the last couple of weeks and we have another appt. in a couple more weeks -hopefully by then everything will be back to normal *crossing fingers*. So there's all that and of course getting all my daughter's school supplies and everything (Ugh -Teenagers a whole other issue). Anyways it seems we are finally starting to get into the swing of everything -my son is improving and now we're looking forward to a leisurely Labor Day weekend. Here's hoping to a good weekend -Happy Labor Day to you too!

My neck of the woods -A rollercoaster
Joining in with the RHOK's -Your neck of the woods- In my neck of the woods -the kids just went back to school yesterday:

And their school schedules have changed so I take my son to school 1st -Which it's always hard for me to up and around early -but, we made it on time! After that I have about 15min to get my daughter to the bus stop -which I did on time -but, the bus was late - I tried calling different #'s when I got ahold of the main office they just wanted to transfer me back to transportation -which just goes to voicemail/can't talk to anyone -Urgh! I thought about taking her to school after calling around -but, then the bus finally came -really late -Like school was about to start late! I know it takes some adjustment for everyone -but, Geez! Today the bus was late again -but, not as late at least -Hoping it will get better!
Just seems everything lately has been a bit of a roller coaster like that - Not to get too depressing but, 1 of the kittens got sick and died the other day -the others seem healthy so, hope they will be ok. Oh and someone -somehow got my husband's card # and made charges to our acct. -they are still processing the dispute claims-hoping that gets cleared up soon -So, yeah had some bad days lately but, just trying to remember -life's- Just a ride:

My neck of the woods -Celebrate!
Joining in with the RHOK's -Your neck of the woods -I know it's been a little while -seems I've fallen off the blog wagon ;)
So, what's been going on in my neck of the woods? There has been some celebrating as my birthday was this past weekend. Also my sister's birthday was in July so, seems to be the past few years tradition is to have a family get together for a little combined birthday party:

My mom hosts a little family get together somewhere between mine and my sister's bday- we have some food and go swimming and all -Pretty fun. Also the hubby and I usually go out for a date night sometime around my birthday too -this year I decided to invite some friends along as a double date kind of thing. A few friends came out to dinner at Genghis Grill -Yum! -I also happen to have a coupon for a free bday meal there ;) After that a few of us went on to see the Drunkard play -Heard of it?

It's a pretty neat Tulsa tradition -in fact it's the longest running play in America! And it's interactive -where you cheer the hero and boo the villian -very fun and entertaining! -It's in a small, historical building so you have to get your reservations in. I recommend you see it at least once. I even got a free mug -saying I celebrated my bday there- along with some presents from family and friends -Gotta say -1 of the best birthdays I've had in awhile.
Anything else to celebrate? Well, the kids are almost ready to go back to school ;) We just got my daughter's schedule and we meet my son's teacher this week too -oh and I'm helping out with PTA stuff and everything -so, yeah -Busy week!
But, that's what all's going on here -Be sure to join in and let us know what's going on in -Your neck of the woods :)

MckLinky Monday -Routine Changes?
Today on the RHOK - They would like to know -Now that school has started -Has your routine changed?
Yep! Yep! - Like Mrs. Nesbitt I do love my sleep it's so nice during the summer to occasionally get to sleep until 7or 8am However now that school has started I must get up at the latest by 6:05am - and I do take that extra 5mins -often ;) It is hard since I'm not the best at going to bed early -I still stay up sometimes til 11pm or so. Luckily my husband is here to drag me out of bed and while I'm showering he's helping get the kids breakfast-etc. Then he has to leave for work. Then I get ready enough and take my daughter to the bus stop by 7am (We're pretty good at the tag team thing ;)
Once my daughter is off to school - my son and I come back home - I finish getting ready like getting other clothes on besides my "house clothes", get my son's lunch ready, and make sure everything is in order to take my son to school. Once I get him into class -I come back home. Now that it's the 1st time I've had both kids at school -It is a different routine -I haven't figured out any particular routine for my "me" time - I do usually do some blogging,or work on an Examiner article, do some cleaning,- I try to be productive -But, admit I do watch some TV and so far tried to fit in a movie once -I was almost done watching a movie when my Gma stopped by the other day (Which reminds me I do need to type up some stuff for her) - There's always unexpected things that come up -The other day I got a call that I won a prize and went to go pick that up -It's nice being able to run errands by myself. Some people might think that I have a lot of time to "do nothing"- But, not really - if I eat lunch at about 11-12pm then I have a couple of hours before and after lunch- basically. And I'm sure I'll get more involved with the PTA -I was just asking the PTA VP who's kid is in my son's class what all they need help with -and she said she'd get back to me-So, we'll see. And as much as I love sleep -So, far I haven't fit in a nap -Maybe 1 of these days. Today I have a Dr's checkup -it's nice to be able to go the Dr. without having to have my husband get off work and watch the kids.
So, as you can see depends on the day -But,there are routine changes - And I'm expecting some more as we figure out extra curricular activities -etc.
So, how about you? Be sure to link up on MckLinky Monday's at the RHOK

Back to school
Well, the kids have been back to school for about a week now -Here goes the back to school story...
Of course a few days before school started we got prepared -Got my daughter's schedule and met my son's teacher-etc.

On the 1st day of school we all got up early-my husband even stayed home to make sure things went smoothly. We got my daughter off to the bus -on time and everything-which is pretty early- 7am! Went back home packed my son's lunch and waited until it was time to take him to school. We took him into class for his very 1st day of school! He seemed a bit nervous but, excited -we stayed just a few minutes -as we (me and hubby) were leaving I noticed my son had that look he gets when he wants to cry but, is trying really hard not to. I held it together- it did make me a bit emotional though. Once we got home we left a message for the pediatrician that per the school cafeteria-etc. we need a Dr's note to confirm my son is allergic to milk and will need to drink juice instead. After hanging around the house for awhile we went out to eat lunch -(a somewhat belated birthday outing for me ;) After lunch - since we were right by the pediatrician's we decided to pop in and see if they had the Dr's note ready -we got that and also stopped by the store. We came back home and it seemed not too much longer it was about time to pick my daughter up from the bus stop...
Which we were really wondering what time that would be-since they couldn't give us an exact drop off time -We figured anytime between 2:30 -3pm -Hopefully closer to 2:30 because I would have to leave to pickup my son about 3pm. We got to the bus stop about 2:35pm we waited, and waited -No sign of the bus -When we got there we did notice some kids were walking home but, weren't sure if they were from the same bus as my daughter's and we did not see my daughter anywhere - I was getting quite nervous as it got closer and closer to 3pm .... I finally noticed that I had a missed call on my phone- there was no message though -I tried to call the # back but, it was busy -My husband also tried the # -we realized it was my daughter's school - & it was almost 3pm! We figured she must've missed the bus -we then decided my husband would get his car and pick her up -while I went and picked up my son- and we would also keep trying to call & get through to the school for sure. I was actually a little early to get my son -so, I called my daughter's school -they said she is there and that her dad already called and is picking her up -Whew! We all got back home - I found out my daughter was confused -she thought someone would pick her up at school -we did talk about that possibly depending if the bus dropped off late like 3pm or later -But, I thought we all knew we were going to see how the bus went 1st. We also heard how my son's 1st day went - he likes his teacher and everything. All in all- we survived the 1st day of school!
Now we're getting pretty much used to the routine -we've learned my daughter's bus does drop off early enough to get her and then go get my son. We've also been to my daughter's open house and met her teachers. One of the main problems now is my son -the last couple of days he gets upset before school -starting to cry;saying he doesn't want to go to school (which make me emotional) -But, when I pick him up he's fine and is excited to tell me about his day. I've tried to figure out why he doesn't want to go to school -Sometime's he says he misses sissy, sometimes he says he doesn't like the food (so far we've packed his lunch- except 1 day),1 time he said a kid was mean to him, sometimes he just says he wants to stay home -I'm really not sure?? - I try to tell him that sissy goes to school just like him -so, he wouldn't see her until school is over. I've also had a talk with his teacher -she assures me he is doing fine and just remind him that if someone is mean to let her know - We're thinking he just has before school nervousness ?? I know he likes his teacher,he has fun, he does have some friends - Just today there was a kid walking in front of us and he said it was his friend - they waved at each other - So, when he started pulling away from the school/class -I tried to coax him by saying -let's go see your friend! - Sometimes that's all we need -a glimmer of hope - Just trying to hang onto that- Oy- The Mom Mayhem!

MckLinky Monday -Back to school -Happy or Sad?
Today on the RHOK - They want to know Back to school -Happy or Sad?
Well, it is true the countdown to back to school has started -Indeed. I always find it bittersweet -I do love being able to sleep in and spend time together -But, then again sometimes it can be an overwhelming amount of time together ;)
This back to school year will be especially bittersweet since my baby -my son is starting school -for the 1st time! Sure we've read books to try to easemy his fears ,we got him a backpack, and are preparing to meet his teacher and everything -So, hopefully it will go ok. Of course my daughter will be heading back to school -middle school. So I'll have to figure out how that will all go getting them to 2 different schools and everything - I might be feeling just a bit anxious about all this -It will be an adjustment for sure! But, hopefully it all turns out fine -and then ?? Then I'll be here at home -By myself!! That does make me a bit happy since I fully intend on watching some movies that have been piling up and enjoying "me" time -Oh and I guess I'll actually have more time to clean -etc. Not sure what all else I'll do - But, I'm sure eventually I'll miss everyone and wonder -Is it almost summertime?

Last days of Summer
The end of summer is here and it's always so bittersweet! I've noticed the different ways I see it when I was working and now a Stay-at-home mom. When I was working it was like -Yay! Back to a schedule/not having to worry about finding summer childcare. Now being at home -it's like -Ugh! Back to a schedule/Having to get up early again =D So here we are again and going to have to get up even earlier now that middle school starts earlier.
And thinking about what all has or has not been accomplished during the summer. I always have big plans to do a lot of Crafty things and get organized but, it rarely happens like that. And I think about all we DID accomplish -Like finally taking a good family vacation-Yay! (see Atlanta vacation back in June),some fun food experiments making our own popsicles-etc,making Amish friendship bread, Cooking more in general as in "Real" breakfasts-etc.,going around town experiencing new things, going swimming a few times, and general summer hanging out. All in all not too bad. But now it's the Last days of Summer *Sigh*

Back to School Bonanza
It's almost that time of year again-Back to School! We've been getting prepared since school starts here-Next week! I know it seems kinda early-Huh?! I remember when school would start late August- almost Sept. now it's just been creeping up earlier and earlier! So here we go again shopping the aisles amidst the blue, black, and red pens. Trying to find the wide ruled paper in what seems a never-ending sea of college ruled -I mean really! Where is the dang wide-ruled paper?! =D I know it took us a few trips to the store to finally find some and when we saw a few lone packages of wide-ruled paper-We snatched it up! =D
Now today we just got my daughter's school schedule -we figured out what "group" she's in. And walked to all her classes-Ah -yep the start of different classes in Middle School. I think we got most things figured out-Of course there's still a few things she'll have to figure out once school actually starts. And I'm glad we went after my hubby got home since I am admittedly directionally challenged and got turned around a few times ;)
All in all so far so good -Now just have to shop some more because of course after the initial School Supply list there's a few additional items we just became aware of while getting her schedule- So still getting there -Trying to survive the Mayhem ;)
